Shri Bhagavan said: "I am time, grown mighty, the destroyer of the worlds; here I have set out to gather in the peoples. Even without you, not all these warriors arrayed in the opposing ranks will survive. Therefore arise, win glory, conquer your enemies, and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. They have already been slain by Me; be only the instrument, O Savyasachin. Drona, Bhishma, Jayadratha, Karna, and the other heroic warriors, already slain by Me — strike them down. Do not be troubled; fight, and in battle you shall conquer your enemies."

Krishna reveals to Arjuna the secret of action: the outcome of the battle already rests within His will, yet this does not annul Arjuna's duty. To be the Lord's instrument means to act without false authorship, not to shrink from the service entrusted to him.
