"Now I shall explain the knowable: knowing it, one tastes immortality. It is the beginningless supreme Brahman, called neither being nor non-being. Everywhere are His hands and feet, everywhere His eyes, heads, and faces; everywhere He has hearing; having enveloped all, He abides in the world. He manifests the functions of all the senses, yet is devoid of all senses; He is unattached, yet sustains everything; He is beyond the gunas, and yet He is the experiencer of the gunas. He is outside and within all beings, moving and unmoving; because of His subtlety He is unknowable, He is far off and near. He is undivided among beings, and yet He stands as though divided; He is to be known as the sustainer of beings, who devours and brings forth. He is the light even of the luminaries, and is said to be beyond darkness; He is knowledge, the knowable, and the goal reached through knowledge, dwelling in the heart of every being. Thus have the field, knowledge, and the knowable been declared in brief. My devotee, having understood this, becomes fit for My own nature."

The knowable does not reduce to an impersonal abstraction: it dwells in the heart of every being and leads the bhakta to Krishna's own state of being. The paradoxes of language show that the highest reality transcends ordinary categories without losing personal closeness.
