Translation

Sanjaya said: 'Then King Duryodhana ordered Sushilarman to guard Drona's rear in the battle, O king. Enraged, the king of the Trigartas drew his bow taut and covered Partha in the fight with iron-tipped arrows. The arrows loosed by the two of them, O king, shone in the sky like swans in the autumn firmament, great king. Reaching the son of Kunti, all these arrows struck home at once, as birds settle on a sweet-fruited tree bowed low with its burden. Then Arjuna, the best of charioteers, raising a war cry in the battle, pierced the king of the Trigartas together with his son with arrows. Cut down by Partha as though by Time at the destruction of an age, they, resolved upon death, turned again upon Partha himself and poured a rain of arrows upon the Pandava's chariot. But this rain of arrows the Pandava met with his own rain of arrows, O lord of kings, as a mountain receives a downpour of rain. There we beheld a wondrous thing -- the lightness of hand of Bibhatsu: an unassailable rain of weapons loosed by many heroes, he alone held off, as the wind scatters masses of clouds. By this deed of Partha's the gods and danavas were pleased. Then Partha, enraged in the battle, O Bharata, loosed the Vayavya weapon against the Trigartas at the head of their army, great king. Then a wind arose, shaking the vault of heaven, felling stands of trees and slaying soldiers. Seeing this most terrible Vayavya weapon, Drona, great king, loosed another fearsome weapon, the mountain astra. When this weapon was released by Drona in the great battle, the wind died down and the quarters grew clear. Then the valiant son of Pandu broke the spirit of the Trigartas' columns of chariots in the battle, turning them back with their strength shattered.'
