संजय उवाच
तस्मिन् विलुलिते सैन्ये सैन्धवायार्जुने गते ॥
सात्वते भीमसेने च पुत्रस् ते द्रोणम् अभ्ययात् ॥
त्वरन्न् एकरथेनैव बहुकृत्यं विचिन्तयन् ॥
स रथस् तव पुत्रस्य त्वरया परया युतः ॥
तूर्णम् अभ्यपतद् द्रोणं मनोमारुतवेगवान् ॥
saṃjaya uvāca
tasmin vilulite sainye saindhavāyārjune gate ||
sātvate bhīmasene ca putras te droṇam abhyayāt ||
tvarann ekarathenaiva bahukṛtyaṃ vicintayan ||
sa rathas tava putrasya tvarayā parayā yutaḥ ||
tūrṇam abhyapatad droṇaṃ manomārutavegavān ||
[When] that army had been churned up, [when] Arjuna had gone [to] the Sindhu king, and [with] Satvata [and] Bhimasena [likewise gone], your son [Duryodhana] moved [toward] Drona. That chariot of your son, [with] utmost haste joined, swiftly rushed [at] Drona, [with] the speed of thought [and] wind.

It is telling that in the hour of disaster the proud man seeks support. The verse teaches that when a scheme collapses, even the self-assured turns for help: in prosperity he is proud, but in trouble he hastens to the one he trusts, for his own strength has proven insufficient.
