स्वबाहुबलम् आश्रित्य विदार्य च वरूथिनीम् ॥
प्रेषितो धर्मपुत्रेण पर्थैषो ऽभ्येति सात्यकिः ॥
यस्य नास्ति समो योधः कौरवेषु कथं चन ॥
सो ऽयम् आयाति कौन्तेय सात्यकिः सत्यविक्रमः ॥
कुरुसैन्याद् विमुक्तो वै सिंहो मध्याद् गवाम् इव ॥
निहत्य बहुलाः सेनाः पार्थैषो ऽभ्येति सात्यकिः ॥
svabāhubalam āśritya vidārya ca varūthinīm ||
preṣito dharmaputreṇa parthaiṣo 'bhyeti sātyakiḥ ||
yasya nāsti samo yodhaḥ kauraveṣu kathaṃ cana ||
so 'yam āyāti kaunteya sātyakiḥ satyavikramaḥ ||
kurusainyād vimukto vai siṃho madhyād gavām iva ||
nihatya bahulāḥ senāḥ pārthaiṣo 'bhyeti sātyakiḥ ||
"Relying on the strength of his own arms and having torn through the army, sent by the son of Dharma, o Partha, he comes — Satyaki. He who has no equal warrior among the Kauravas at all — that very one comes, Kaunteya — Satyaki, of true valor. Having broken free from the Kuru army, like a lion from the midst of cattle, having slain multitudinous hosts, o Partha, he comes — Satyaki."

Satyaki is a lion emerged from a herd of cattle: an image of the incommensurability of one against the many. It is significant that he relies "on the strength of his own arm," yet is sent by the son of Dharma: his own valor placed in the service of a common cause. The verse teaches that the greatest strength is that which joins one's own might with obedience to a righteous principle; and a hero who fights by his own arm, yet at the word of the righteous king, is more fearsome than a lion among cattle.
