संजय उवाच
ततो युधिष्ठिरो राजा रथाद् आप्लुत्य भारत ॥
पर्यष्वजत् तदा कृष्णाव् आनन्दाश्रुपरिप्लुतः ॥
प्रमृज्य वदनं शुभ्रं पुण्डरीकसमप्रभम् ॥
अब्रवीद् वासुदेवं च पाण्डवं च धनंजयम् ॥
दिष्ट्या पश्यामि संग्रामे तीर्णभारौ महारथौ ॥
दिष्ट्या च निहतः पापः सैन्धवः पुरुषाधमः ॥
कृष्ण दिष्ट्या मम प्रीतिर् महती प्रतिपादिता ॥
दिष्ट्या शत्रुगणाश् चैव निमग्नाः शोकसागरे ॥

diṣṭyā paśyāmi saṃgrāme tīrṇabhārau mahārathau ||
diṣṭyā ca nihataḥ pāpaḥ saindhavaḥ puruṣādhamaḥ ||
kṛṣṇa diṣṭyā mama prītir mahatī pratipāditā ||
diṣṭyā śatrugaṇāś caiva nimagnāḥ śokasāgare ||
Then King Yudhishthira, leaping down from his chariot, O Bharata, embraced the two Krishnas, streaming with tears of joy. Having wiped his bright face, which shone like a lotus, he said to Vasudeva and to the Pandava Dhananjaya: "Fortunately I see in battle the two maharathas who have borne their burden; and fortunately the villain Saindhava, vilest of men, is slain. Krishna, fortunately my great joy has been granted; and fortunately the hosts of the enemy are sunk in an ocean of grief."

The king does not gloat with pride but weeps for joy and embraces his kinsmen: for him victory is not power but the deliverance of those he loves. Notable is the threefold "diṣṭyā" — "fortunately": he receives the outcome as a gift, not as his own merit. The verse teaches that a noble heart, in the hour of victory, rejoices above all in the safety of those dear to it; and one who sees in success not his own valor but the grace of providence meets triumph with tears of gratitude rather than pride.
