The image of the trees trembling before Garuda's might, and of the rohina tree itself offering him its branch, shows how all creation assists the one who carries out the Lord's will. Even trees, lifeless as they seem, are afraid and serve the future carrier of the Lord. The elephant and the tortoise, each seized by a single claw, are the two cursed brothers whose eternal enmity is finally broken when a servant of God bears them away: contact with the divine ends the wheel of their strife. Here lies a consoling truth: however low a soul may fall in the cycle of enmity and animal births, contact with a devotee of the Lord (Garuda) lifts it up and puts an end to its suffering. The rohina tree, freely giving up its branch, is an image of humble offering: everything that exists is by nature called to serve the Lord and His servants, and finds its meaning in that service. Thus Garuda's fearsome feat proves to be both a deliverance for the fallen and a manifestation of the universal cooperation with the divine will.
