एवम् एतन् मया तात भावितं दोषम् आत्मनि ॥
दृष्ट्वा प्रकृतयः सर्वा अर्थमानेन योजिताः ॥
ध्रुवम् अस्मत्सहायास् ते भविष्यन्ति प्रधानतः ॥
अर्थवर्गः सहामात्यो मत्संस्थो ऽद्य महीपते ॥
स भवान् पाण्डवान् आशु विवासयितुम् अर्हति ॥
मृदुनैवाभ्युपायेन नगरं वारणावतम् ॥
यदा प्रतिष्ठितं राज्यं मयि राजन् भविष्यति ॥
तदा कुन्ती सहापत्या पुनर् एष्यति भारत ॥

dhruvam asmatsahāyās te bhaviṣyanti pradhānataḥ ||
arthavargaḥ sahāmātyo matsaṃstho 'dya mahīpate ||
sa bhavān pāṇḍavān āśu vivāsayitum arhati ||
mṛdunaivābhyupāyena nagaraṃ vāraṇāvatam ||
yadā pratiṣṭhitaṃ rājyaṃ mayi rājan bhaviṣyati ||
tadā kuntī sahāpatyā punar eṣyati bhārata ||

सः भवान् पाण्डवान् आशु विवासयितुम् अर्हतिsaḥ bhavān pāṇḍavān āśu vivāsayitum arhatitherefore you should quickly banish the Pandavas,
मृदुना एव अभ्युपायेन नगरं वारणावतम्mṛdunā eva abhyupāyena nagaraṃ vāraṇāvatamby gentle means alone -- to the city of Varanavata;
यदा प्रतिष्ठितं राज्यं मयि राजन् भविष्यतिyadā pratiṣṭhitaṃ rājyaṃ mayi rājan bhaviṣyatiwhen the kingdom is established in me, O king,
तदा कुन्ती सहापत्या पुनः एष्यति भारतtadā kuntī sahāpatyā punaḥ eṣyati bhāratathen Kunti will return with her offspring, O Bharata'

Duryodhana said: 'So it is, father; having pondered this flaw and seen it, I have won over all the subjects with wealth and honor; surely they will become our foremost allies. The treasury, together with the counselors, now stands on my side, O lord of the earth. Therefore you should quickly banish the Pandavas -- by gentle means alone -- to the city of Varanavata; and when the kingdom is established in me, O king, then Kunti will return with her offspring.'
