स तदन्नम् उपादाय गतो बकवनं प्रति ॥

Here the feat is named by its true name — "the good of the world" (lokahita). This word is significant: Bhima's deed is valued not as a personal victory but as a benefit for all — the deliverance of an entire land from a man-eater. Herein lies the measure of the deed's greatness: great is what serves the good of the many, not the glory of the one. Thus the scripture shows that the true greatness of a feat lies in its fruit for the world; and the hidden hero, unnamed, is glorified by his deed: by having accomplished "lokahita," the good of all living beings.
