मुहूर्तात् प्राप्तकालं च दृष्ट्वा लोकचरं मुनिम् ॥
नारदं स्वस्थम् आसीनम् उपासीनो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
अपृच्छत् पाण्डवस् तत्र राजमध्ये महामतिः ॥

Vaishampayana said: "Having said this and honored the speech [of Narada], and judging the moment fitting, the wise Pandava Yudhishthira, sitting beside the sage who wanders through the worlds, sitting at ease, asked him there, amid the kings."

Here the question is asked at its proper hour, with regard for the measure of time. It is significant that the king 'judged the moment fitting': even a good question has its season, and the wise do not rush a conversation. Thus the scripture shows prudence within the very desire to know; and next Yudhishthira asks about the worlds seen by the storyteller.
