एवम् उक्त्वा ततो भीष्मो विरराम महायशाः ॥
व्याजहारोत्तरं तत्र सहदेवो ऽर्थवद् वचः ॥
केशवं केशिहन्तारम् अप्रमेयपराक्रमम् ॥
पूज्यमानं मया यो वः कृष्णं न सहते नृपाः ॥
सर्वेषां बलिनां मूर्ध्नि मयेदं निहितं पदम् ॥
एवम् उक्ते मया सम्यग् उत्तरं प्रब्रवीतु सः ॥
मतिमन्तस् तु ये के चिद् आचार्यं पितरं गुरुम् ॥
अर्च्यम् अर्चितम् अर्चार्हम् अनुजानन्तु ते नृपाः ॥

matimantas tu ye ke cid ācāryaṃ pitaraṃ gurum ||

सर्वेषां बलिनां मूर्ध्निsarveṣāṃ balināṃ mūrdhnion the heads of all such strongmen
मया इदं निहितं पदम्mayā idaṃ nihitaṃ padamI place this foot!
एवम् उक्ते मया सम्यग्evam ukte mayā samyagto this, rightly spoken by me,
उत्तरं प्रब्रवीतु सःuttaraṃ prabravītu saḥlet him give an answer [in objection];
मतिमन्तस् तु ये के चिद्matimantas tu ye ke cidand the wise, whoever they may be —
आचार्यं पितरं गुरुम्ācāryaṃ pitaraṃ gurumthe teacher, the father, the guru,

Traducción

Having spoken thus, the greatly renowned Bhishma fell silent; and Sahadeva spoke in reply a weighty word: "Whoever among you, o kings, cannot bear that I honor Keshava, the slayer of Keshin, immeasurable in valor — upon the heads of all such strongmen I place this foot! Let him object to what I have rightly said, if he can. And let the wise among the kings approve this reverence for the teacher, the father, the guru — worthy of worship, worshipped, deserving honor."
