Weary and hungry, Kashyapa reached the rich settlements of the cowherds. The cowherds honored him as a king, and he spent the night there. Having received from them an exceedingly exalted welcome, he asked: "Whose are you, good people, so renowned?" All of them, coming forward, answered: "This wealth is appointed to your son." In every region he was honored thus, and, hearing their sweet words, he grew calmer still and, rejoicing, reached the capital of the lord of the Angas. Honored by that bull among men, he saw his son as though Indra in heaven, and there he saw his daughter-in-law Shanta, radiant as lightning. Seeing the villages, the pastures, his son, and Shanta, his wrath was wholly stilled, and he showed the lord of the land the highest favor. Leaving his son there, the great sage said to Rishyashringa, radiant as sun and fire: "When a son is born, return to the forest, having first accomplished all that pleases this king." Rishyashringa fulfilled that word and went to where his father was. And Shanta served him duly, gracious as Rohini to Soma in the sky, as fortunate Arundhati to Vasishtha, as Lopamudra to Agastya, as Damayanti to Nala, as Shachi to the wielder of the thunderbolt, as Indrasena to Mudgala. So Shanta, joined with love, served the forest-dwelling Rishyashringa, O king. Here his sacred ashram shines, adorning the great lake. Having bathed here, your task accomplished and purified, go on, O king, to the other holy fords."

Vibhandaka's wrath is quenched not by arguments but by reverence, care, and the sight of his son's life well ordered. So deception is redeemed when it is covered over with honor and responsibility.
