Satyaki said: "Rama, this is no time for laments. Whatever answer this calls for, all of us must give it while there is still time, even though Yudhishthira says nothing. Those who have protectors in this world do not themselves undertake their affairs: in their affairs the protectors act, as Shaibya and others did for Yayati. If that is so, Rama, protectors act on their own judgment in the affairs of men who have such support; these foremost of men, having protectors, do not fall into distress as the unprotected do. Why then does this king, having as protectors Rama, Janardana, Pradyumna, Samba, and myself, dwell in the forest together with his brothers? Let the goodly army of the Dasharhas march out today, rich in manifold weapons and gleaming armor. Let Dhartarashtra with his kinsmen, crushed by the might of the Vrishnis, go to the abode of Yama. You alone, in your wrath, could encompass this whole earth -- what then of the wielder of the Sharnga bow? Strike down Dhartarashtra together with his followers, as Indra, lord of the gods, struck down Vritra."

Satyaki answers grief with action: if there are protectors, they must protect. But his fervor does not yet reckon with Yudhishthira's vow.
