Bhimasena said: 'O king, I myself will carry you, the princess, and the two bull-like men, the twins. Do not let your mind sink into despair, lord of kings. Or else that bird-like son born of me, equal to my strength, Ghatotkacha, at your word, O sinless one, will carry all of us.' Vaishampayana said: 'With the permission of Dharmaraja, he called to mind his rakshasa son. And the righteous Ghatotkacha, the very instant his father thought of him, appeared then with joined palms, having bowed to the Pandavas. The mighty-armed one bowed to the brahmins as well, and they received him joyfully. The one of true valor said to his father Bhimasena: "You have quickly called me to mind, and I have come to serve. Command me, mighty-armed one: I will do everything without doubt." Hearing this, Bhimasena embraced the rakshasa.'

Ghatotkacha appears as a strength that answers his father's memory of him. In this family, help comes not only through men and sages, but also through unusual bonds accepted by dharma.
