While dwelling there, Bibhatsu brought Janardana from among the Anartas and the Dasharhas, and the Pandava Abhimanyu as well. The king of Kashi and Shaibya, delighting in Yudhishthira, arrived with two akshauhinis, O lord of the earth. The mighty Yajnasena came with an akshauhini; the heroic sons of Draupadi came, along with the unconquered Shikhandin and the formidable Dhrishtadyumna, foremost among wielders of weapons, and all the lords of the akshauhinis — performers of sacrifices who had given generous fees, armed with weapons and divine missiles, heroes ready to give up their bodies. Beholding their arrival, Matsya, best among upholders of dharma, rejoiced and gave his daughter to Abhimanyu. When the kings had returned from every quarter, Vasudeva, wearer of the forest garland, came there together with Halayudha. Kritavarman Hardikya came, and Yuyudhana Satyaki, Anadhrishti, Akrura, Samba, and Nishatha as well, bringing Abhimanyu and his mother with them. Indrasena and the others, who had spent the year in readiness, also arrived together on their well-appointed chariots. Ten thousand elephants, a hundred thousand horses, a full arbuda of chariots, and a nikharva of foot-soldiers attended the many Vrishnis and Andhakas and the mighty Bhojas, who followed the radiant Vasudeva, tiger among the Vrishnis. Krishna gave the great-souled Pandavas a bridal gift — women, jewels, and garments, each in abundance and of many kinds. Then, according to the proper rite, the wedding of the Matsyas and Parthas took place.

The wedding gathers together the forces that will soon become an alliance of dharma on the field of Kurukshetra. The joy of celebration already carries the shadow of the war to come, yet in this moment it seals a righteous bond.
