तव प्रसादाद् बालास् ते प्राप्ता राज्यम् अरिंदम ॥
राज्ये तान् स्थापयित्वाग्रे नोपेक्षीर् विनशिष्यतः ॥
सर्वम् अप्य् एतद् एकस्य नालं संजय कस्य चित् ॥
तात संहत्य जीवामो मा द्विषद्भ्यो वशं गमः ॥
तथा भीष्मं शांतनवं भारतानां पितामहम् ॥
शिरसाभिवदेथास् त्वं मम नाम प्रकीर्तयन् ॥
अभिवाद्य च वक्तव्यस् ततो ऽस्माकं पितामहः ॥
भवता शंतनोर् वंशो निमग्नः पुनर् उद्धृतः ॥
स त्वं कुरु तथा तात स्वमतेन पितामह ॥
यथा जीवन्ति ते पौत्राः प्रीतिमन्तः परस्परम् ॥
tava prasādād bālās te prāptā rājyam ariṃdama ||
rājye tān sthāpayitvāgre nopekṣīr vinaśiṣyataḥ ||
sarvam apy etad ekasya nālaṃ saṃjaya kasya cit ||
tāta saṃhatya jīvāmo mā dviṣadbhyo vaśaṃ gamaḥ ||
tathā bhīṣmaṃ śāṃtanavaṃ bhāratānāṃ pitāmaham ||
śirasābhivadethās tvaṃ mama nāma prakīrtayan ||
abhivādya ca vaktavyas tato 'smākaṃ pitāmahaḥ ||
bhavatā śaṃtanor vaṃśo nimagnaḥ punar uddhṛtaḥ ||
sa tvaṃ kuru tathā tāta svamatena pitāmaha ||
yathā jīvanti te pautrāḥ prītimantaḥ parasparam ||
'It is by your grace alone, O subduer of foes, that these children of tender years obtained the kingdom. Having first established them in the kingdom, you must not now be indifferent toward them, for then ruin will overtake them! All this kingdom, O Sanjaya, is not fit to belong to one man alone. Tell him this once more from us — "O sovereign, we wish to live in harmony. Do not let our enemies overpower you." You must also, O Sanjaya, bowing your head, greet in my name the grandfather of the Bharatas, Bhishma, son of Shantanu. Having greeted our grandfather, you should then say to him: "Through you, when the line of Shantanu was on the verge of vanishing, it was raised up again. Therefore, O sovereign, act as you see fit, so that all your grandsons may live in mutual affection."'
