Traducción

Purity and freedom from dishonesty and deceit are the distinguishing marks of a self-controlled man. One who is not greedy, who is content with little, who does not gaze upon objects that provoke lust, and who is as unshakable as the ocean, is known as a man of self-control. One who conducts himself well, of good character and a contented soul, who knows himself and possesses wisdom, is greatly honored here and attains a blessed state in the world to come. Endowed with mature wisdom, one who fears no other beings and whom no other beings fear is regarded as the best of men. Seeking the good of all, he is a universal friend, and he causes no one distress. Possessed of gravity like the ocean, and enjoying contentment through his wisdom, such a man is ever calm and cheerful. Regulating their conduct by the deeds practiced by the righteous of old and witnessed by them, the self-restrained, devoted to peace, rejoice in this world.
