Traducción

Kanva said: 'As Matali was going on his way, he saw the great sage Narada setting out, for his own pleasure, to visit Varuna, the lord of the waters. And seeing Matali, Narada asked him, saying: "Where are you going? Is this journey of yours, O charioteer, undertaken on some errand of your own, or by the command of Shatakratu?" Thus addressed on the road by Narada, who was himself bound for his destination, Matali duly told Narada of his mission. And the sage, having been informed of everything, then said to Matali: "Let us go together. As for me, I am going to see the Lord of the Waters; having left the heavens and searched through the netherworld, I shall tell you everything. After a good search there, we shall choose a bridegroom, O Matali." And having then entered the lower regions, that illustrious pair, Matali and Narada, beheld that Regent of the world, the Lord of the Waters. And there Narada received the homage due to a celestial sage, while Matali received honor equal to that offered to great Indra.'
