From his eyes and ears, and from every side, came forth terrible, smoky tongues of fire; from the pores of his hair issued rays, as it were, of the sun. Beholding this dreadful form of the great Keshava, the kings, their hearts seized with terror, closed their eyes. Only Drona, Bhishma, the wise Vidura, the blessed Sanjaya, and the rishis rich in austerity could look on: to them the Blessed Janardana gave divine sight. Beholding this great wonder of Madhava upon the floor of the assembly, the divine drums resounded and a shower of flowers fell. The whole earth trembled, the ocean surged, and the kings of the earth fell into the deepest astonishment, O best of the Bharatas.
