यस्य प्राग् एव विदिता सर्वार्थानाम् अनित्यता ॥
नुदेद् वृद्धिसमृद्धी स प्रतिकूले नृपात्मज ॥
उत्थातव्यं जागृतव्यं योक्तव्यं भूतिकर्मसु ॥
भविष्यतीत्य् एव मनः कृत्वा सततम् अव्यथैः ॥
मङ्गलानि पुरस्कृत्य ब्राह्मणैश् चेश्वरैः सह ॥
प्राज्ञस्य नृपतेर् आशु वृद्धिर् भवति पुत्रक ॥
अभिवर्तति लक्ष्मीस् तं प्राचीम् इव दिवाकरः ॥
निदर्शनान्य् उपायांश् च बहून्य् उद्धर्षणानि च ॥
अनुदर्शितरूपो ऽसि पश्यामि कुरु पौरुषम् ॥
पुरुषार्थम् अभिप्रेतं समाहर्तुम् इहार्हसि ॥
क्रुद्धांल् लुब्धान् परिक्षीणान् अवक्षिप्तान् विमानितान् ॥
स्पर्धिनश् चैव ये के चित् तान् युक्त उपधारय ॥

puruṣārtham abhipretaṃ samāhartum ihārhasi ||
kruddhāṃl lubdhān parikṣīṇān avakṣiptān vimānitān ||
spardhinaś caiva ye ke cit tān yukta upadhāraya ||
"Whoever knows in advance the impermanence of all affairs will not reject growth and prosperity even when fortune turns adverse, O prince. One must rise, stay watchful, and apply oneself to works of welfare, holding constantly to the thought 'this will come to pass,' without anxiety, placing auspicious signs foremost and acting together with brahmins and the mighty. For a wise king, growth comes swiftly, my son; Lakshmi turns to him as the sun turns to the east. You have been shown many examples, means, and words of encouragement; I see this in you — show your courage now. Here you must gather the manly purpose you desire. Keep close and attentive watch over the angry, the greedy, the impoverished, the cast-down, the dishonored, and all manner of rivals."
