एतस्य तद्रथानीकं कथयन्ति रणप्रियाः ॥

धृष्टद्युम्नस्य तनयो बाल्यान् नातिकृतश्रमः ॥
शिशुपालसुतो वीरश् चेदिराजो महारथः ॥
धृष्टकेतुर् महेष्वासः संबन्धी पाण्डवस्य ह ॥
एष चेदिपतिः शूरः सह पुत्रेण भारत ॥
महारथेनासुकरं महत् कर्म करिष्यति ॥
क्षत्रधर्मरतो मह्यं मतः परपुरंजयः ॥
क्षत्रदेवस् तु राजेन्द्र पाण्डवेषु रथोत्तमः ॥
जयन्तश् चामितौजाश् च सत्यजिच् च महारथः ॥
etasya tadrathānīkaṃ kathayanti raṇapriyāḥ ||
bahutvāt sāgaraprakhyaṃ devānām iva saṃyuge ||
kṣatradharmā tu rājendra mato me 'rdharatho nṛpa ||
dhṛṣṭadyumnasya tanayo bālyān nātikṛtaśramaḥ ||
śiśupālasuto vīraś cedirājo mahārathaḥ ||
dhṛṣṭaketur maheṣvāsaḥ saṃbandhī pāṇḍavasya ha ||
eṣa cedipatiḥ śūraḥ saha putreṇa bhārata ||
mahārathenāsukaraṃ mahat karma kariṣyati ||
kṣatradharmarato mahyaṃ mataḥ parapuraṃjayaḥ ||
kṣatradevas tu rājendra pāṇḍaveṣu rathottamaḥ ||
jayantaś cāmitaujāś ca satyajic ca mahārathaḥ ||
Those who love battle say that his chariot force, because of its great number, is like the ocean, like the host of the gods in combat. Kshatradharman, however, O lord of kings -- the son of Dhrishtadyumna -- is in my judgment a half-ratha, O king: being young, he has not yet been tested by great toil. The son of Shishupala, the hero, king Dhrishtaketu of Chedi, a great archer, is bound by kinship to the Pandava. This brave lord of Chedi, together with his son the maharatha, O Bharata, will accomplish a great deed -- one difficult even for a maharatha. Kshatradharman, conqueror of enemy cities, is in my judgment devoted to the kshatriya's duty; Kshatradeva, O lord of kings, is the best ratha among the Pandavas, while Jayanta, Amitaujas, and Satyajit are maharathas.

Bhishma continues to unfold the full breadth of the Pandavas' strength: behind the principal heroes stands a dense circle of Panchalas, Chedis, Kekayas, Kashis, and other allies. What matters here is not numbers alone but the quality of the bond -- some fight from kinship, others from devotion to Arjuna, still others for the glory of the Pandavas. The battlefield thus emerges as a web of loyalty and personal commitment, where each ally becomes part of one shared strength.
