प्रहरन् सर्वशत्रुभ्यः पाण्डवानां महारथः ॥
अदृश्यत महेष्वासः सवज्र इव वज्रभृत् ॥
हेमपृष्ठं धनुश् चास्य ददृशे चरतो दिशः ॥
तोयदेषु यथा राजन् भ्राजमानाः शतह्वदाः ॥
शराश् च निशिताः पीता निश्चरन्ति स्म संयुगे ॥
वनात् फुल्लद्रुमाद् राजन् भ्रमराणाम् इव व्रजाः ॥
तथैव चरतस् तस्य सौभद्रस्य महात्मनः ॥
रथेन मेघघोषेण ददृशुर् नान्तरं जनाः ॥
मोहयित्वा कृपं द्रोणं द्रौणिं च स बृहद्बलम् ॥
सैन्धवं च महेष्वासं व्यचरल् लघु सुष्ठु च ॥
मण्डलीकृतम् एवास्य धनुः पश्याम मारिष ॥
सूर्यमण्डलसंकाशं तपतस् तव वाहिनीम् ॥
तं दृष्ट्वा क्षत्रियाः शूराः प्रतपन्तं शरार्चिभिः ॥
द्विफल्गुनम् इमं लोकं मेनिरे तस्य कर्मभिः ॥
तेनार्दिता महाराज भारती सा महाचमूः ॥
बभ्राम तत्र तत्रैव योषिन् मदवशाद् इव ॥
द्रावयित्वा च तत् सैन्यं कम्पयित्वा महारथान् ॥
नन्दयाम् आस सुहृदो मयं जित्वेव वासवः ॥
तेन विद्राव्यमाणानि तव सैन्यानि संयुगे ॥
चक्रुर् आर्तस्वरं घोरं पर्जन्यनिनदोपमम् ॥

mohayitvā kṛpaṃ droṇaṃ drauṇiṃ ca sa bṛhadbalam ||
saindhavaṃ ca maheṣvāsaṃ vyacaral laghu suṣṭhu ca ||
maṇḍalīkṛtam evāsya dhanuḥ paśyāma māriṣa ||
sūryamaṇḍalasaṃkāśaṃ tapatas tava vāhinīm ||
taṃ dṛṣṭvā kṣatriyāḥ śūrāḥ pratapantaṃ śarārcibhiḥ ||
dviphalgunam imaṃ lokaṃ menire tasya karmabhiḥ ||
tenārditā mahārāja bhāratī sā mahācamūḥ ||
babhrāma tatra tatraiva yoṣin madavaśād iva ||
drāvayitvā ca tat sainyaṃ kampayitvā mahārathān ||
nandayām āsa suhṛdo mayaṃ jitveva vāsavaḥ ||
tena vidrāvyamāṇāni tava sainyāni saṃyuge ||
cakrur ārtasvaraṃ ghoraṃ parjanyaninadopamam ||
Striking down all his enemies, the great chariot-warrior of the Pandavas, the mighty archer, was seen like the wielder of the vajra with his vajra. His gold-backed bow, as he moved in every direction, O king, appeared like flashing bolts of lightning among the clouds. Sharp, golden-hued arrows flew out in the battle like swarms of bees from a forest of flowering trees. As the magnanimous Saubhadra thus moved about with his chariot rumbling like a cloud, people saw no interval between his movements. Having bewildered Kripa, Drona, Drauni, Brihadbala, and the mighty archer Saindhava, he moved swiftly and skillfully. We saw, O venerable one, how his bow, curved into a circle and resembling the disc of the sun, scorched your army. Seeing him blazing with the rays of his arrows, the brave kshatriyas, by his deeds, believed that a second Phalguna had appeared in this world. Tormented by him, O great king, this vast army of the Bharatas reeled here and there, like a woman under the sway of intoxication. Having scattered that army and shaken its great chariot-warriors, he gladdened his friends, like Vasava after conquering Maya. Your armies, scattered by him in battle, raised a terrible cry of anguish, like the roar of a thundercloud.'
