हन्त ते ऽहं प्रवक्ष्यामि संग्रामं लोमहर्षणम् ॥
यथाभूद् राक्षसेन्द्रस्य सौभद्रस्य च मारिष ॥
अर्जुनश् च यथा संख्ये भीमसेनश् च पाण्डवः ॥
नकुलः सहदेवश् च रणे चक्रुः पराक्रमम् ॥
तथैव तावकाः सर्वे भीष्मद्रोणपुरोगमाः ॥
अद्भुतानि विचित्राणि चक्रुः कर्माण्य् अभीतवत् ॥

hanta te 'haṃ pravakṣyāmi saṃgrāmaṃ lomaharṣaṇam ||
yathābhūd rākṣasendrasya saubhadrasya ca māriṣa ||
arjunaś ca yathā saṃkhye bhīmasenaś ca pāṇḍavaḥ ||
nakulaḥ sahadevaś ca raṇe cakruḥ parākramam ||
tathaiva tāvakāḥ sarve bhīṣmadroṇapurogamāḥ ||
adbhutāni vicitrāṇi cakruḥ karmāṇy abhītavat ||

Sanjaya said: "Now, venerable one, I will tell you of the battle that makes the hair stand on end: how it unfolded between the lord of rakshasas and Saubhadra; how Arjuna, Bhimasena the Pandava, Nakula and Sahadeva showed their valor in the fight. And in the same way all your warriors, led by Bhishma and Drona, fearlessly performed wondrous and manifold deeds."
