Traducción

Yudhishthira said: 'It is so, mighty-armed one, as you say, Madhava. None of them are able to check your onrush. Since I have you, mighty protector, tiger among men, I will surely gain everything I desire. With you as my protector, Govinda, I could conquer in battle even the gods headed by Indra, best of conquerors; how much more so Bhishma in the great battle. But for my own advantage I cannot make you break your word. Give your help, Madhava, without fighting, as you promised. There is a certain pact between me and Bhishma, Madhava: "I will give you counsel for your cause, but under no circumstances will I fight for you; I will fight for Duryodhana's sake -- this is the truth, my lord." Therefore it is he who will give me both the kingdom and counsel, Madhava. So let all of us together with you, Madhusudana, once more ask Devavrata for the means of his own defeat. If it pleases you, Varshneya, let us go together, swiftly, to Bhishma, the finest of men, and ask counsel of this Kaurava. He will speak words that are beneficial and true, Janardana. Whatever he says, Krishna, that is what I will do in battle. He, firm in his vow, will grant us both victory and counsel: we were boys bereft of our father, and he raised us. If I now wish to kill this aged grandsire, the beloved father of our own father, Madhava, then a curse upon the kshatriya's way of life!'
