विषाग्निद्यूतसंक्लेशान् वनवासं च पाण्डवाः ॥
स्मरमाणा न हास्यन्ति संग्रामम् इति मे मतिः ॥

Traducción
"Besides, the Pandavas will not be broken in battle — such is my thought: they are warriors, and mighty, and skilled in arms, frenzied in battle. Recalling the woes of poison, fire, and the dice, and their forest exile, the Pandavas will not give up battle — such is my thought."

Duryodhana himself enumerates the very crimes he committed — poison, the burning of the resin-house, dishonest dicing, exile — and understands: the memory of them will not let the Pandavas retreat. Thus the persecutor voices his own guilt and perceives that it has become his enemies' unbreakable strength. It is significant that the very injuries with which he thought to break them have forged their unyielding will. The verse teaches that evil done does not vanish but returns to the guilty redoubled in the resolve of the wronged; that injustice, instead of intimidating, often tempers the spirit of the persecuted; and that the instigator of wrong, looking back at his own deeds, recognizes in them the root of his own doom — the memory of suffering endured makes the adversary one who can no longer be stopped.
