The scene of the sages weeping together over the dead Pramadvara reveals the nobility of a compassionate heart: even withdrawn ascetics who have mastered their senses weep at the sight of a young soul's untimely death — for compassion (karuna) does not contradict holiness but crowns it. Yet Ruru's conduct is especially notable: he does not remain to weep with the others but withdraws in silent suffering. This solitary grief is not weakness but the beginning of resolve: out of the depths of sorrow will be born his feat of love and self-sacrifice, which the story will soon tell. Scripture thus shows two faces of grief: shared weeping that pours out feeling, and concentrated suffering that turns into action. Here it is revealed that true love does not stop at tears but seeks the path to save the beloved — a prefiguration of how a soul, moved by love, turns to the Lord, seeking eternal life for those it loves. Ruru's departure 'away' is a departure toward resolve, toward sacrifice, toward prayer — the only things capable of overcoming death itself.
