अथ आययुः देवगणाः विमानैः रुद्रादित्याः वसवः अथ अश्विनौ चatha āyayuḥ devagaṇāḥ vimānaiḥ rudrādityāḥ vasavaḥ atha aśvinau caand then the hosts of gods arrived in their celestial chariots -- the Rudras, Adityas, Vasus, and both Ashvins,
साध्याः च सर्वे मरुतः तथा एव यमं पुरस्कृत्य धनेश्वरं चsādhyāḥ ca sarve marutaḥ tathā eva yamaṃ puraskṛtya dhaneśvaraṃ caand all the Sadhyas and Maruts, with Yama and the Lord of Wealth [Kubera] at their head;
दैत्याः सुपर्णाः च महोरगाः च देवर्षयः गुह्यकाः चारणाः चdaityāḥ suparṇāḥ ca mahoragāḥ ca devarṣayaḥ guhyakāḥ cāraṇāḥ cadaityas, suparnas and great uragas, divine seers, guhyakas, and charanas,
विश्वावसुः नारदपर्वतौ च गन्धर्वमुख्याः च सह अप्सरोभिःviśvāvasuḥ nāradaparvatau ca gandharvamukhyāḥ ca saha apsarobhiḥVishvavasu, Narada and Parvata, and the chief gandharvas together with the apsaras;

Here the very heavens descend to witness an earthly event. It is telling that gods, daityas, and sages flock to the svayamvara: what unfolds here matters not to earth alone but to all the worlds. Especially telling is that the Vrishnis "remain within Krishna's will": even the Lord's own kinsmen defer to His direction -- He is the center and the one who ordains. Where Krishna is, there is the center of everything: gods too are present at the feast, but He governs it all. Thus the scripture shows the universal attention drawn to Draupadi's choosing; and the Lord's presence proclaims that a work of great design is about to unfold.
