यस्य धर्मः हि धर्मार्थम् क्लेशभाक् न स पण्डितः न स धर्मस्य वेद अर्थम् सूर्यस्य अन्धः प्रभाम् इवyasya dharmaḥ hi dharmārtham kleśabhāk na sa paṇḍitaḥ na sa dharmasya veda artham sūryasya andhaḥ prabhām ivahe whose dharma, meant for dharma's sake, brings only suffering is not wise; he does not know the meaning of dharma, as a blind man does not know the light of the sun

इमान् शकुनिकान् राजन् हन्ति वैतंसिकः यथा एतत् रूपम् अधर्मस्य भूतेषु च विहिंसताम्imān śakunikān rājan hanti vaitaṃsikaḥ yathā etat rūpam adharmasya bhūteṣu ca vihiṃsatāmas a fowler kills these little birds, o king, such is the form of unrighteousness among those who harm living beings
कामात् लोभात् च धर्मस्य प्रवृत्तिम् यः न पश्यति स वध्यः सर्वभूतानाम् प्रेत्य च इह च दुर्मतिःkāmāt lobhāt ca dharmasya pravṛttim yaḥ na paśyati sa vadhyaḥ sarvabhūtānām pretya ca iha ca durmatiḥhe who, from desire and greed, does not see the movement of dharma is, in his evil-mindedness, deserving of death for all beings, both here and after death
