असंशयम् भारत सत्यम् एतत् यत् मा तुदन् वाक्यशल्यैः क्षिणोषि न त्वा विगर्हे प्रतिकूलम् एतत् मम अनयात् हि व्यसनम् वः आगात्asaṃśayam bhārata satyam etat yat mā tudan vākyaśalyaiḥ kṣiṇoṣi na tvā vigarhe pratikūlam etat mama anayāt hi vyasanam vaḥ āgātWithout doubt, Bharata, this is true, that you wound me with arrows of words and torment me; I do not blame you for this reproach, for through my ill course misfortune came upon you
अहम् हि अक्षान् अन्वपद्यम् जिहीर्षन् राज्यम् सराष्ट्रम् धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रात् तत् मा शठः कितवः प्रत्यदेवीत् सुयोधनार्थम् सुबलस्य पुत्रःaham hi akṣān anvapadyam jihīrṣan rājyam sarāṣṭram dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putrāt tat mā śaṭhaḥ kitavaḥ pratyadevīt suyodhanārtham subalasya putraḥI went after the dice, wishing to seize the kingdom together with its land from the son of Dhritarashtra; but that cunning gambler, the son of Subala, outplayed me for the sake of Suyodhana
महामायः शकुनिः पार्वतीयः सदा सभायाम् प्रवपन् अक्षपूगान् अमायिनम् मायया प्रत्यदेवीत् ततः अपश्यम् वृजिनम् भीमसेनmahāmāyaḥ śakuniḥ pārvatīyaḥ sadā sabhāyām pravapan akṣapūgān amāyinam māyayā pratyadevīt tataḥ apaśyam vṛjinam bhīmasenaShakuni, the great deceiver, the mountaineer, forever casting handfuls of dice in the assembly, outplayed me, who knew no deceit, through deceit; then I saw the calamity, Bhimasena
अक्षान् हि दृष्ट्वा शकुनेः यथावत् कामानुलोमान् अयुजः युजः च शक्यम् नियन्तुम् अभविष्यत् आत्मा मन्युः तु हन्ति पुरुषस्य धैर्यम्akṣān hi dṛṣṭvā śakuneḥ yathāvat kāmānulomān ayujaḥ yujaḥ ca śakyam niyantum abhaviṣyat ātmā manyuḥ tu hanti puruṣasya dhairyamHaving seen Shakuni's dice, how, even and odd, they obeyed his will, I might have restrained myself, but anger destroys a man's steadiness
यन्तुम् न आत्मा शक्यते पौरुषेण मानेन वीर्येण च तात नद्धः न ते वाचम् भीमसेन अभ्यसूये मन्ये तथा तत् भवितव्यम् आसीत्yantum na ātmā śakyate pauruṣeṇa mānena vīryeṇa ca tāta naddhaḥ na te vācam bhīmasena abhyasūye manye tathā tat bhavitavyam āsītI could not restrain myself by human strength: I was bound by honor and valor, my child; I am not angry at your words, Bhimasena — I think it was bound to happen so
