लोमश उवाच
एतच् छ्रुत्वान्तरिक्षाच् च स राजा राजसत्तम ॥
यथोक्तं तच् चकाराथ श्रद्दधद् भरतर्षभ ॥
षष्टिः पुत्रसहस्राणि तस्याप्रतिमतेजसः ॥
रुद्रप्रसादाद् राजर्षेः समजायन्त पार्थिव ॥
ते घोराः क्रूरकर्माण आकाशपरिसर्पिणः ॥
बहुत्वाच् चावजानन्तः सर्वांल् लोकान् सहामरान् ॥
त्रिदशांश् चाप्य् अबाधन्त तथा गन्धर्वराक्षसान् ॥
सर्वाणि चैव भूतानि शूराः समरशालिनः ॥
वध्यमानास् ततो लोकाः सागरैर् मन्दबुद्धिभिः ॥
ब्रह्माणं शरणं जग्मुः सहिताः सर्वदैवतैः ॥
तान् उवाच महाभागः सर्वलोकपितामहः ॥
गच्छध्वं त्रिदशाः सर्वे लोकैः सार्धं यथागतम् ॥
नातिदीर्घेण कालेन सागराणां क्षयो महान् ॥
भविष्यति महाघोरः स्वकृतैः कर्मभिः सुराः ॥
एवम् उक्तास् ततो देवा लोकाश् च मनुजेश्वर ॥
पितामहम् अनुज्ञाप्य विप्रजग्मुर् यथागतम् ॥

gacchadhvaṃ tridaśāḥ sarve lokaiḥ sārdhaṃ yathāgatam ||
nātidīrgheṇa kālena sāgarāṇāṃ kṣayo mahān ||
bhaviṣyati mahāghoraḥ svakṛtaiḥ karmabhiḥ surāḥ ||
evam uktās tato devā lokāś ca manujeśvara ||
pitāmaham anujñāpya viprajagmur yathāgatam ||

अनुवाद

Lomasha said: "Hearing this from the sky, the best of kings believed it and did everything just as it had been said. To this incomparably radiant royal sage, by the grace of Rudra, sixty thousand sons were born, O king. They were terrible, cruel in their deeds, walked through the sky, and because of their great numbers despised all the worlds together with the immortals. Valiant and skilled in battle, they tormented the thirty gods, the gandharvas, the rakshasas, and all beings. Then the worlds, being slain by the foolish Sagaras, came together with all the gods to Brahma for refuge. The great Grandsire of all worlds said to them: 'Go, all you thirty gods, back with the worlds, as you came. In no very long time a great and terrible destruction shall befall the sons of Sagara through their own deeds.' Having heard this word, O lord of men, the gods and the worlds took leave of the Grandsire and departed as they had come."

भाष्य

The sons of Sagara perish not chiefly because of another's curse but because of their own deeds. Karma is already ripening within their pride and violence.
