'Here, too, from grief over his son, the blessed sage Vasishtha bound himself and threw himself into the Vipasha, but rose again, freed from his bonds. This is the region of Kashmir, crusher of enemies, wholly holy and inhabited by great sages; behold it together with your brothers. Here took place the conversation of all the northern sages, of Nahusha, and also of Agni and Kashyapa, O Bharata. Here, great king, is seen the entrance to Manasa; amid this mountain the glorious Rama spent a year. This is the famed Vatikashanda, truly mighty, that gate which even one journeying north from Videha did not bypass. This place is called Ujjanaka: here Yavakri found peace, and the blessed sage Vasishtha was together with Arundhati. Here is Lake Kushavan, where the lotus rests upon the kusha grass; and the hermitage of Rukmini, where she, free from anger, found peace. You have already heard the summary of the states of meditation, son of Pandu; you shall see, great king, Bhrigutunga, the great mountain.'

Lomasha names the places where grief, anger, and pride found their limit. Here the tirtha is not scenery but a space where an inner knot can come undone.
