तस्मिंस् तु तुमुले काले नारदः सुरचोदितः ॥
आगम्याह वचः पार्थं श्रवणीयम् इदं नृप ॥
अर्जुनार्जुन मा युङ्क्ष्व दिव्यान्य् अस्त्राणि भारत ॥
नैतानि निरधिष्ठाने प्रयुज्यन्ते कदा चन ॥
अधिष्ठाने न वानार्तः प्रयुञ्जीत कदा चन ॥
प्रयोगे सुमहान् दोषो ह्य् अस्त्राणां कुरुनन्दन ॥
एतानि रक्ष्यमाणानि धनंजय यथागमम् ॥
बलवन्ति सुखार्हाणि भविष्यन्ति न संशयः ॥
अरक्ष्यमाणान्य् एतानि त्रैलोक्यस्यापि पाण्डव ॥
भवन्ति स्म विनाशाय मैवं भूयः कृथाः क्व चित् ॥
अजातशत्रो त्वं चैव द्रक्ष्यसे तानि संयुगे ॥
योज्यमानानि पार्थेन द्विषताम् अवमर्दने ॥
निवार्याथ ततः पार्थं सर्वे देवा यथागतम् ॥
जग्मुर् अन्ये च ये तत्र समाजग्मुर् नरर्षभ ॥
तेषु सर्वेषु कौरव्य प्रतियातेषु पाण्डवाः ॥
तस्मिन्न् एव वने हृष्टास् त ऊषुः सह कृष्णया ॥

अनुवाद

'In that tumultuous hour, Narada, urged on by the gods, came and spoke to Partha words worthy of heeding: "Arjuna, Arjuna, Bharata, do not wield the divine astras. They are never to be used without cause. And even with cause, if there is no calamity, they should not be used, Kurunandana, for great harm lies in the use of astras. If you keep them, Dhananjaya, as they came to you, they will surely remain powerful and beneficent. But if they are not kept safe, Pandava, they may bring ruin even upon the three worlds. Never act thus again anywhere. But you, Ajatashatru, shall see them in battle, when Partha wields them to crush his enemies." Having restrained Partha, all the gods departed as they had come, and with them departed the other beings who had gathered there. When all of them had returned, the Pandavas, together with Krishna, dwelt joyfully in that same forest.'

भाष्य

Narada states the rule of power: to possess a weapon is not to display it. True strength holds itself in reserve until the moment it serves dharma.
