वैशंपायन उवाच
इत्य् उक्त्वाजगरं देहं त्यक्त्वा स नहुषो नृपः ॥
दिव्यं वपुः समास्थाय गतस् त्रिदिवम् एव ह ॥
युधिष्ठिरो ऽपि धर्मात्मा भ्रात्रा भीमेन संगतः ॥
धौम्येन सहितः श्रीमान् आश्रमं पुनर् अभ्यगात् ॥
ततो द्विजेभ्यः सर्वेभ्यः समेतेभ्यो यथातथम् ॥
कथयाम् आस तत् सर्वं धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
तच् छ्रुत्वा ते द्विजाः सर्वे भ्रातरश् चास्य ते त्रयः ॥
आसन् सुव्रीडिता राजन् द्रौपदी च यशस्विनी ॥
ते तु सर्वे द्विजश्रेष्ठाः पाण्डवानां हितेप्सया ॥
मैवम् इत्य् अब्रुवन् भीमं गर्हयन्तो ऽस्य साहसम् ॥
पाण्डवास् तु भयान् मुक्तं प्रेक्ष्य भीमं महाबलम् ॥
हर्षम् आहारयां चक्रुर् विजह्रुश् च मुदा युताः ॥

अनुवाद

Vaishampayana said: 'Having said this, King Nahusha left behind the body of the python, assumed his divine form, and departed for Tridiva. Righteous Yudhishthira, reunited with his brother Bhima, and accompanied by the glorious Dhaumya, returned to the hermitage. There Yudhishthira, the Dharma-king, told all that had happened to all the twice-born who had gathered. Hearing this, all the brahmins, his three brothers, and the illustrious Draupadi were greatly abashed. The best of the twice-born, wishing the Pandavas well, said to Bhima, "Do not do this again," rebuking his rashness. The Pandavas, however, seeing mighty Bhima freed from danger, were filled with joy and rejoiced with delight.'

भाष्य

The story ends not in a triumph of strength but in a lesson of restraint. Bhima is saved by Yudhishthira's wisdom, and so the family's joy is joined with a rebuke of rashness.
