Dhaumya said to the king: 'You are wise, self-controlled, true to your word, and master of your senses. Such men are never overwhelmed by any calamity. Even the gods have many times fallen into calamity and lived in concealment to subdue their enemies. Indra, finding himself among the Nishadhas, lived hidden in a mountain hermitage and accomplished the subjugation of the enemy's power. Vishnu, in the form of Ashvashiras, dwelt hidden in Aditi's womb for the destruction of the daityas. In the form of Vamana, disguised as a brahmin, he took away Bali's kingdom with three strides. You have heard what the brahmarshi Aurva did in the worlds, living hidden in his thigh. You have heard how Hari, concealed within Indra's thunderbolt, helped destroy Vritra. You have heard what Fire did, entering the waters in concealment for the sake of the gods. So too Vivasvat, hidden upon the earth, burned all his enemies. And Vishnu, living in the house of Dasharatha, secretly slew the terrible Dashagriva in battle. Thus these great souls, in concealment, conquered their enemies; so too shall you conquer.' Satisfied by Dhaumya's words, by the knowledge of the shastras, and by his own judgment, Yudhishthira did not waver.

Dhaumya shows that concealment is not always weakness. Sometimes dharma works unseen, waiting for the right moment before restoring order.
