Then Duhshasana, the younger brother, attached to his elder brother's evil intent, said to him: 'All that Karna has said, we think so too. Let all the spies, as instructed, search here and there; let these and many others besides go by rule from country to country. Yet their path, their dwelling, and any news of them cannot be found. Perhaps they are in great peril, hidden, or have crossed the billowing sea; perhaps these men who thought themselves heroes were devoured by beasts in the great forest; or, having come upon some perilous place, perished for ages everlasting. Therefore, descendant of Kuru, make your mind untroubled and act according to your own zeal, as you think fit, lord of men.'

Duhshasana consoles himself with the thought that the Pandavas have perished. Thus a guilty mind prefers to imagine the righteous gone rather than face the consequences of meeting them again.
