These valiant sons of Kunti and the two sons of Madri ask only for what they themselves, winning victory in battle, had conquered from defeated kings. You doubtless know well how these enemies of the Pandavas, aiming to seize the kingdom, tried by various means to destroy them while they were still mere boys, so wicked and malicious were they. Consider how grasping they are, and how virtuous Yudhishthira is. Consider too the relations existing between them. I entreat you all to take counsel together, and also to reflect separately. The Pandavas have always prized truth. They fulfilled their pledge to the letter. If the sons of Dhritarashtra were now to deal with them unjustly, they would slay them all, even should they unite against them. They have friends who, learning of unworthy treatment shown to them by others, would support them, take up the fight against their persecutors, and gladly slay them, even at the cost of their own lives. If you suppose their numbers too few to prevail over their enemies, know that, united and accompanied by their friends, they will doubtless spare no effort to destroy those enemies.
