Never before, O king, have I praised myself, for self-praise is base. You shall hear of the defeat of the Pandavas, and of the Matsyas, the Panchalas and the Kekayas, of Satyaki and of Vasudeva, at my hand. Indeed, just as rivers, flowing into the ocean, are utterly lost within it, so too the Pandavas, together with all their followers, upon approaching me, will all be destroyed. My intellect surpasses theirs, my energy surpasses theirs, my valor surpasses theirs, my knowledge surpasses theirs, my resources far surpass the resources of the Pandavas. Whatever knowledge of weapons exists in Ganga's son, in Drona, in Kripa, in Shalya, and in Shala, exists in me as well.' Having spoken these words, O Bharata, Duryodhana, that scourge of foes, again questioned Sanjaya, to learn of the actions of Yudhishthira, who was bent on war.
