विचित्रकवचामुक्तैः सपताकैः स्वलंकृतैः ॥
सादिभिश् चोपसंपन्ना आसन्न् अयुतशो हयाः ॥
सुसंग्राहाः सुसंतोषा हेमभाण्डपरिच्छदाः ॥
अनेकशतसाहस्रास् ते च सादिवशे स्थिताः ॥
नानारूपविकाराश् च नानाकवचशस्त्रिणः ॥
पदातिनो नरास् तत्र बभूवुर् हेममालिनः ॥
रथस्यासन् दश गजा गजस्य दश वाजिनः ॥
नरा दश हयस्यासन् पादरक्षाः समन्ततः ॥
रथस्य नागाः पञ्चाशन् नागस्यासञ् शतं हयाः ॥
हयस्य पुरुषाः सप्त भिन्नसंधानकारिणः ॥

hayasya puruṣāḥ sapta bhinnasaṃdhānakāriṇaḥ ||
Horses, by the tens of thousands, were furnished with riders and adorned with colorful armor and flags. They were well-controlled and docile, covered with golden harness and trappings; many hundreds of thousands of them stood under the command of riders. There were also foot soldiers of varied appearance, with various armor and weapons, adorned with golden garlands. For one chariot there were ten elephants, for one elephant ten horses, and around one horse stood ten foot guards. For a chariot there were fifty elephants, for an elephant a hundred horses, and for a horse seven men who acted at the breaches and rejoinings of the ranks.
