न तथा बलवीर्याभ्यां विजयन्ते जिगीषवः ॥
यथा सत्यानृशंस्याभ्यां धर्मेणैवोद्यमेन च ॥
त्यक्त्वाधर्मं च लोभं च मोहं चोद्यमम् आस्थिताः ॥
युध्यध्वम् अनहंकारा यतो धर्मस् ततो जयः ॥
एवं राजन् विजानीहि ध्रुवो ऽस्माकं रणे जयः ॥
यथा मे नारदः प्राह यतः कृष्णस् ततो जयः ॥

na tathā balavīryābhyāṃ vijayante jigīṣavaḥ ||
yathā satyānṛśaṃsyābhyāṃ dharmeṇaivodyamena ca ||
tyaktvādharmaṃ ca lobhaṃ ca mohaṃ codyamam āsthitāḥ ||
yudhyadhvam anahaṃkārā yato dharmas tato jayaḥ ||
evaṃ rājan vijānīhi dhruvo 'smākaṃ raṇe jayaḥ ||
yathā me nāradaḥ prāha yataḥ kṛṣṇas tato jayaḥ ||

शब्दशः अर्थ
संस्कृतIASTअर्थ
न तथा बलवीर्याभ्यांna tathā balavīryābhyāṃnot so much by strength and valor; not so much by might and courage
विजयन्ते जिगीषवःvijayante jigīṣavaḥdo those desiring victory conquer; do those seeking it attain victory
यथा सत्यानृशंस्याभ्यांyathā satyānṛśaṃsyābhyāṃas by truth and gentleness; as by truthfulness and freedom from cruelty
धर्मेणैवोद्यमेन चdharmeṇaivodyamena caby dharma itself and by effort; by righteousness and resolute striving
त्यक्त्वाधर्मं च लोभं चtyaktvādharmaṃ ca lobhaṃ cahaving abandoned unrighteousness and greed; having cast off unrighteousness and avarice
मोहं चोद्यमम् आस्थिताःmohaṃ codyamam āsthitāḥand delusion, having taken up effort; and delusion, having set oneself to strive
युध्यध्वम् अनहंकाराyudhyadhvam anahaṃkārāfight without egotism; do battle without self-conceit
यतो धर्मस् ततो जयःyato dharmas tato jayaḥwhere dharma is, there is victory; whence righteousness, thence victory
एवं राजन् विजानीहिevaṃ rājan vijānīhithus, O king, know; understand it thus, O sovereign
ध्रुवो ऽस्माकं रणे जयःdhruvo 'smākaṃ raṇe jayaḥour victory in battle is certain; our victory in combat is assured
यथा मे नारदः प्राहyathā me nāradaḥ prāhaas Narada told me; as Narada declared to me
यतः कृष्णस् ततो जयःyataḥ kṛṣṇas tato jayaḥwhere Krishna is, there is victory; whence Krishna, thence victory
अनुवाद

'Those who desire victory conquer not so much by strength and valor as by truth, gentleness, dharma, and resolute effort. Having abandoned unrighteousness, greed, and delusion, take up effort and fight without egotism: where dharma is, there is victory. Therefore, O king, know that our victory in battle is certain, as Narada told me, for where Krishna is, there is victory.'
