एतस्मिन्न् एव काले तु द्रोणः शस्त्रभृतां वरः ॥
द्रुपदं त्रिभिर् आसाद्य शरैर् विव्याध दारुणैः ॥
सो ऽतिविद्धस् तदा राजन् रणे द्रोणेन पार्थिवः ॥
अपायाद् द्रुपदो राजन् पूर्ववैरम् अनुस्मरन् ॥
जित्वा तु द्रुपदं द्रोणः शङ्खं दध्मौ प्रतापवान् ॥
तस्य शङ्खस्वनं श्रुत्वा वित्रेसुः सर्वसोमकाः ॥
अथ शुश्राव तेजस्वी द्रोणः शस्त्रभृतां वरः ॥
प्रमोहनास्त्रेण रणे मोहितान् आत्मजांस् तव ॥
ततो द्रोणो राजगृद्धी त्वरितो ऽभिययौ रणात् ॥
तत्रापश्यन् महेष्वासो भारद्वाजः प्रतापवान् ॥
धृष्टद्युम्नं च भीमं च विचरन्तौ महारणे ॥
मोहाविष्टांश् च ते पुत्रान् अपश्यत् स महारथः ॥
ततः प्रज्ञास्त्रम् आदाय मोहनास्त्रं व्यशातयत् ॥
अथ प्रत्यागतप्राणास् तव पुत्रा महारथाः ॥
पुनर् युद्धाय समरे प्रययुर् भीमपार्षतौ ॥

atha śuśrāva tejasvī droṇaḥ śastrabhṛtāṃ varaḥ ||
pramohanāstreṇa raṇe mohitān ātmajāṃs tava ||
tato droṇo rājagṛddhī tvarito 'bhiyayau raṇāt ||
tatrāpaśyan maheṣvāso bhāradvājaḥ pratāpavān ||
dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ ca bhīmaṃ ca vicarantau mahāraṇe ||
mohāviṣṭāṃś ca te putrān apaśyat sa mahārathaḥ ||
tataḥ prajñāstram ādāya mohanāstraṃ vyaśātayat ||
atha pratyāgataprāṇās tava putrā mahārathāḥ ||
punar yuddhāya samare prayayur bhīmapārṣatau ||

अथ शुश्राव तेजस्वीatha śuśrāva tejasvīthen the radiant one heard; after that the mighty one learned
द्रोणः शस्त्रभृताम् वरःdroṇaḥ śastrabhṛtām varaḥDrona, the best of weapon-bearers; Drona, foremost of warriors
प्रमोहनास्त्रेण रणेpramohanāstreṇa raṇeby the pramohana astra in battle; by the weapon of bewilderment in the fight
मोहितान् आत्मजान् तवmohitān ātmajān tavathat your sons had been bewildered; your sons, robbed of their senses
ततः द्रोणः राजगृद्धीtataḥ droṇaḥ rājagṛddhīthen Drona, intent on the king's gain; Drona, devoted to the king's cause
त्वरितः अभिययौ रणात्tvaritaḥ abhiyayau raṇāthastened away from that part of battle; swiftly went from the field
तत्र अपश्यत् महेष्वासःtatra apaśyat maheṣvāsaḥthere the great archer saw; there the mighty bowman noticed
भारद्वाजः प्रतापवान्bhāradvājaḥ pratāpavānBharadvaja, the valiant one; the glorious son of Bharadvaja

अथ प्रत्यागतप्राणाःatha pratyāgataprāṇāḥthen, their vital breath restored; then, having come back to themselves
तव पुत्राः महारथाःtava putrāḥ mahārathāḥyour sons, the great chariot-warriors; the great chariot-warriors, your sons
पुनर् युद्धाय समरेpunar yuddhāya samareagain for battle, in the fight; once more for combat, in the contest
प्रययुः भीमपार्षतौprayayuḥ bhīmapārṣatauwent forth against Bhima and Parshata; advanced against Bhima and Dhrishtadyumna
अनुवाद

At this very moment Drona, the best of weapon-bearers, reached Drupada and pierced him with three dreadful arrows. Sorely wounded by Drona in battle, o king, King Drupada withdrew, remembering their old enmity. Having defeated Drupada, valiant Drona blew his conch, and upon hearing the sound of that conch all the Somakas trembled. Then the radiant Drona, best of warriors, heard that your sons had been bewildered in battle by the pramohana astra. Drona, intent on the king's advantage, hastened away from that part of the field. There the great archer, the valiant son of Bharadvaja, saw Dhrishtadyumna and Bhima moving through the vast battle, and saw your sons overcome by delusion. Then that great chariot-warrior took up the astra of wisdom and dispelled the weapon of bewilderment. After that, your sons, the great chariot-warriors, their senses restored, again advanced into battle against Bhima and Parshata.
