दुःशासनो महाराज पाण्डवं विशिखैस् त्रिभिः ॥
वासुदेवं च विंशत्या ताडयाम् आस संयुगे ॥
ततो ऽर्जुनो जातमन्युर् वार्ष्णेयं वीक्ष्य पीडितम् ॥
दुःशासनं शतेनाजौ नाराचानां समार्पयत् ॥
ते तस्य कवचं भित्त्वा पपुः शोणितम् आहवे ॥
दुःशासनस् ततः क्रुद्धः पार्थं विव्याध पञ्चभिः ॥
ललाटे भरतश्रेष्ठ शरैः संनतपर्वभिः ॥
ललाटस्थैस् तु तैर् बाणैः शुशुभे पाण्डवोत्तमः ॥
यथा मेरुर् महाराज शृङ्गैर् अत्यर्थम् उच्छ्रितैः ॥
सो ऽतिविद्धो महेष्वासः पुत्रेण तव धन्विना ॥
व्यराजत रणे पार्थः किंशुकः पुष्पवान् इव ॥
दुःशासनं ततः क्रुद्धः पीडयाम् आस पाण्डवः ॥
पर्वणीव सुसंक्रुद्धो राहुर् उग्रो निशाकरम् ॥
पीड्यमानो बलवता पुत्रस् तव विशां पते ॥
विव्याध समरे पार्थं कङ्कपत्रैः शिलाशितैः ॥
तस्य पार्थो धनुश् छित्त्वा त्वरमाणः पराक्रमी ॥
आजघान ततः पश्चात् पुत्रं ते नवभिः शरैः ॥

vāsudevaṃ ca viṃśatyā tāḍayām āsa saṃyuge ||
tato 'rjuno jātamanyur vārṣṇeyaṃ vīkṣya pīḍitam ||
duḥśāsanaṃ śatenājau nārācānāṃ samārpayat ||
te tasya kavacaṃ bhittvā papuḥ śoṇitam āhave ||
duḥśāsanas tataḥ kruddhaḥ pārthaṃ vivyādha pañcabhiḥ ||
lalāṭe bharataśreṣṭha śaraiḥ saṃnataparvabhiḥ ||
lalāṭasthais tu tair bāṇaiḥ śuśubhe pāṇḍavottamaḥ ||
yathā merur mahārāja śṛṅgair atyartham ucchritaiḥ ||
so 'tividdho maheṣvāsaḥ putreṇa tava dhanvinā ||
vyarājata raṇe pārthaḥ kiṃśukaḥ puṣpavān iva ||
duḥśāsanaṃ tataḥ kruddhaḥ pīḍayām āsa pāṇḍavaḥ ||
parvaṇīva susaṃkruddho rāhur ugro niśākaram ||
pīḍyamāno balavatā putras tava viśāṃ pate ||
vivyādha samare pārthaṃ kaṅkapatraiḥ śilāśitaiḥ ||
tasya pārtho dhanuś chittvā tvaramāṇaḥ parākramī ||
ājaghāna tataḥ paścāt putraṃ te navabhiḥ śaraiḥ ||
Duhshasana, great king, struck the Pandava with three arrows and Vasudeva with twenty in that battle. Then Arjuna, his fury roused at the sight of Varshneya afflicted, loosed a hundred iron arrows at Duhshasana in the fight. They pierced his armor and drew blood in the battle. Then the enraged Duhshasana pierced Partha's forehead with five curved arrows, o best of the Bharatas. With those shafts lodged on his brow, the best of the Pandavas shone, great king, like Meru with its peaks raised exceedingly high. Sorely pierced by your archer son, the great bowman Partha shone in the battle like a flowering kimshuka tree. Then the enraged Pandava began to press Duhshasana, as fierce Rahu, greatly enraged, presses the moon at the time of eclipse. Yet your son, o lord of the people, though pressed by the powerful one, still pierced Partha in the battle with honed, heron-feathered arrows. Then Partha, swift and valorous, cut through his bow, and thereafter struck your son with nine arrows."
