स शब्दः प्रदिशः सर्वा दिशः खं च समावृणोत् ॥
आवृतत्वाच् च लोकस्य नासीत् तत्र प्रतिस्वनः ॥
अतीव संप्रहृष्टांस् तान् उपलभ्य धनंजयः ॥
किं चिद् अभ्युत्स्मयन् कृष्णम् इदं वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥

āvṛtatvāc ca lokasya nāsīt tatra pratisvanaḥ ||
atīva saṃprahṛṣṭāṃs tān upalabhya dhanaṃjayaḥ ||
kiṃ cid abhyutsmayan kṛṣṇam idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

प्रदिशःpradiśaḥthe intermediate directions; [all] the intercardinal quarters
सर्वाःsarvāḥall; [all] to the last
दिशःdiśaḥthe directions [of space]; the quarters of the sky
खम्khamthe sky [the air]; the firmament

समावृणोत्samāvṛṇotfilled [covered]; enveloped [from every side]
आवृतत्वात्āvṛtatvātbecause of the covering; because [everything] was covered
लोकस्यlokasyaof the space [of the world]; of the [whole] expanse
न आसीत्na āsītthere was not; did not arise
तत्रtatrathere; in that
प्रतिस्वनःpratisvanaḥan echo; a reverberation
अतीवatīvaexceedingly; beyond measure
संप्रहृष्टान्saṃprahṛṣṭānexulting [rejoicing]; [utterly] delighted

अनुवाद

That shout filled all the intermediate quarters, all the directions of space, and the sky; and because the whole expanse was thus covered, no echo could arise there. Noticing them rejoicing beyond measure, Dhananjaya, with a faint smile, spoke this word to Krishna.
