तथोक्त्वा मुनयस् ते तु ततः केशवम् अभ्ययुः ॥
अथाब्रवीत् तदा वृष्णीञ् श्रुत्वैवं मधुसूदनः ॥
अन्तज्ञो मतिमांस् तस्य भवितव्यं तथेति तान् ॥
एवम् उक्त्वा हृषीकेशः प्रविवेश पुनर् गृहान् ॥
कृतान्तम् अन्यथा नैच्छत् कर्तुं स जगतः प्रभुः ॥
tathoktvā munayas te tu tataḥ keśavam abhyayuḥ ||
athābravīt tadā vṛṣṇīñ śrutvaivaṃ madhusūdanaḥ ||
antajño matimāṃs tasya bhavitavyaṃ tatheti tān ||
evam uktvā hṛṣīkeśaḥ praviveśa punar gṛhān ||
kṛtāntam anyathā naicchat kartuṃ sa jagataḥ prabhuḥ ||
Having spoken thus, those sages then went to Keshava. Madhusudana, having heard this — knowing the end, wise — then said to the Vrishnis: 'What is destined must be so.' Having spoken thus, Hrishikesha entered again into his dwelling; he, the lord of the world, did not wish to make what had been ordained otherwise.

Krishna, 'knowing the end,' meets the curse not with resistance but with acceptance: 'what is destined must be so.' Here the deepest mystery is revealed — the Lord, the master of the world, capable of annulling all things, freely does not annul what has been ordained, for the ordination itself is His will. Thus He shows that the destruction of His own clan is part of His design for completing the earthly play. Not powerlessness but free consent moves Him. The verse teaches that the Almighty, omnipotent and omniscient, does not annul what has been ordained, for therein lies His own will and inscrutable plan; and that His acceptance of the inevitable is not submission to a fate that stands above Him, but the free fulfillment of His own design, in which even the passing of a clan serves a supreme purpose hidden from mortal eyes.
