यो वा एताम् एवं वेदापहत्य पाप्मानम् अनन्ते स्वर्गे लोके ज्येये प्रतितिष्ठति प्रतितिष्ठति ॥

He who knows it thus, having shaken off sin, is established in the infinite, highest, heavenly world — truly he is established.

apahatya pāpmānam — "having shaken off sin" (apa-√han — "to strike away, to shake off"): a knowledge that does not remove the soul's crookedness is not this knowledge. As in the close of the Īśa Upaniṣad, where the suppliant asks that "winding sin" be turned aside, purification here is not an appendix to realisation but its very sign: one who has come to know the Lord of every power can no longer steal His glory — and in that theft is the root of all sins, as the parable has shown.
anante svarge loke jyeye — "in the infinite, highest, heavenly world". Not the temporary svarga of ritual religion — that celestial region whose rulers the Upaniṣad has just humbled with a blade of grass — but ananta, the infinite, and jyāyas, the highest: the imperishable abode of Brahman Himself, the world in which the Desired One is no lightning flash but an eternal presence.
pratitiṣṭhati pratitiṣṭhati — "he is established, he is established": the doubling, by Vedic custom, seals the book and signifies finality — a standing that no fall threatens. The Upaniṣad began with a question about who sends forth the mind; it ends with a man standing for ever at the place from which everything is sent. Between that question and this standing there was room for: five renunciations of substitutes, knowing-and-not-knowing, a blade of grass, a concealment, Umā — and the name Tadvana, which explained what the whole journey had been for: the Beloved is waiting to be recognised and loved.
