तांस् तथावादिनः पौरान् दुःखितान् दुःखकर्शितः ॥
उवाच परमप्रीतो धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
पिता मान्यो गुरुः श्रेष्ठो यद् आह पृथिवीपतिः ॥
अशङ्कमानैस् तत् कार्यम् अस्माभिर् इति नो व्रतम् ॥
भवन्तः सुहृदो ऽस्माकम् अस्मान् कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणम् ॥
आशीर्भिर् अभिनन्द्यास्मान् निवर्तध्वं यथागृहम् ॥
यदा तु कार्यम् अस्माकं भवद्भिर् उपपत्स्यते ॥
तदा करिष्यथ मम प्रियाणि च हितानि च ॥
ते तथेति प्रतिज्ञाय कृत्वा चैतान् प्रदक्षिणम् ॥
आशीर्भिर् अभिनन्द्यैनाञ् जग्मुर् नगरम् एव हि ॥

उवाच परमप्रीतः धर्मराजः युधिष्ठिरःuvāca paramaprītaḥ dharmarājaḥ yudhiṣṭhiraḥaddressed, deeply moved, the king of dharma, Yudhishthira:
पिता मान्यः गुरुः श्रेष्ठः यत् आह पृथिवीपतिःpitā mānyaḥ guruḥ śreṣṭhaḥ yat āha pṛthivīpatiḥ"a father, worthy of honor, a teacher, the highest — what the lord of the earth says,
अशङ्कमानैः तत् कार्यम् अस्माभिः इति नः व्रतम्aśaṅkamānaiḥ tat kāryam asmābhiḥ iti naḥ vratamthat we must do without hesitation; such is our vow;
भवन्तः सुहृदः अस्माकम् अस्मान् कृत्वा प्रदक्षिणम्bhavantaḥ suhṛdaḥ asmākam asmān kṛtvā pradakṣiṇamyou, our friends, having circumambulated us,
आशीर्भिः अभिनन्द्य अस्मान् निवर्तध्वं यथागृहम्āśīrbhiḥ abhinandya asmān nivartadhvaṃ yathāgṛhamand cheered us with your blessings, return to your homes;
यदा तु कार्यम् अस्माकं भवद्भिः उपपत्स्यतेyadā tu kāryam asmākaṃ bhavadbhiḥ upapatsyateand when a task of ours arises for you to fulfill,
तदा करिष्यथ मम प्रियाणि च हितानि चtadā kariṣyatha mama priyāṇi ca hitāni cathen you will do what is dear and beneficial to me"

译文

"To those grieving townsfolk, himself worn with grief, the king of dharma Yudhishthira, deeply moved, said: 'A father, worthy of honor, a teacher, the highest — what the lord of the earth says, that we must do without hesitation; such is our vow. You, our friends, having circumambulated us and cheered us with your blessings, return to your homes; and when a task of ours arises for you to fulfill, then you will do what is dear and beneficial to me.' They, saying 'so be it', having circumambulated them and cheered them with blessings, returned to the city."
