Here the saving power of Vidura's prophetic word is confirmed. It is significant that without his warning, the trusting Pandavas might not have discerned the trap: a devoted friend who foresaw the calamity had armed them beforehand with vigilance. This reveals how precious a wise and loving counselor is: a single word of his, spoken in parable, can save an entire lineage from ruin. Significant too is Yudhishthira's humility, admitting that he did not perceive the danger himself but was "instructed" by Vidura: the wise honor the source of their knowledge. Thus the scripture shows the effective power of the righteous person's counsel: Vidura's word, sown earlier, now bears fruit as salvation.
