देवर्षिगन्धर्वसमाकुलं तत्; सुपर्णनागासुरसिद्धजुष्टम् ॥
दिव्येन गन्धेन समाकुलं च; दिव्यैश् च माल्यैर् अवकीर्यमाणम् ॥
महास्वनैर् दुन्दुभिनादितैश् च; बभूव तत् संकुलम् अन्तरिक्षम् ॥
विमानसंबाधम् अभूत् समन्तात्; सवेणुवीणापणवानुनादम् ॥
devarṣigandharvasamākulaṃ tat; suparṇanāgāsurasiddhajuṣṭam ||
divyena gandhena samākulaṃ ca; divyaiś ca mālyair avakīryamāṇam ||
mahāsvanair dundubhināditaiś ca; babhūva tat saṃkulam antarikṣam ||
vimānasaṃbādham abhūt samantāt; saveṇuvīṇāpaṇavānunādam ||
"That sky, teeming with divine seers and gandharvas, frequented by suparnas, nagas, asuras, and siddhas, filled with divine fragrance and showered with heavenly garlands; with great sounds and the roar of kettledrums, that space above became as if crowded, growing dense on every side with celestial chariots, resounding with flutes, vinas, and panavas."

Here the heavens rejoice over an earthly celebration. It is telling that the very sky above fills with the chariots of the gods, with fragrance and music: joy over what is unfolding embraces the worlds above and below. A great act of providence is answered by the jubilation of heaven: where good is being prepared, the higher world rejoices too. Thus the scripture shows the universal celebration surrounding the svayamvara; and the arena, showered with flowers from the sky, is a sign that a deed pleasing to the gods is being accomplished.
