बुद्धिर् मनो महान् वायुस् तेजो ऽम्भः खं मही च या ॥
चतुर्विधं च यद् भूतं सर्वं कृष्णे प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥
आदित्यश् चन्द्रमाश् चैव नक्षत्राणि ग्रहाश् च ये ॥
दिशश् चोपदिशश् चैव सर्वं कृष्णे प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥
अयं तु पुरुषो बालः शिशुपालो न बुध्यते ॥
सर्वत्र सर्वदा कृष्णं तस्माद् एवं प्रभाषते ॥

caturvidhaṃ ca yad bhūtaṃ sarvaṃ kṛṣṇe pratiṣṭhitam ||

ayaṃ tu puruṣo bālaḥ śiśupālo na budhyate ||
sarvatra sarvadā kṛṣṇaṃ tasmād evaṃ prabhāṣate ||
"Buddhi, manas, mahat, wind, fire, water, ether, and earth, and the fourfold beings — all is established in Krishna. The sun, the moon, the constellations and planets, the cardinal and intermediate directions — all is established in Krishna. But this man, the child Shishupala, does not understand Krishna, who exists everywhere and always, and therefore he speaks thus."

This is the summit of the declaration: everything — the elements, the intellect, the heavenly bodies, the directions — is "established in Krishna"; he is the omnipresent foundation of all being. And here too the cause of the blasphemy is named: Shishupala "does not understand Krishna, who exists everywhere and always." It is telling that the root of impiety is ignorance of the Lord's omnipresence: one who does not see him in everything measures him as limited, as merely "one among many." The verse teaches that knowledge of God is above all the perception of the Lord everywhere; and so blasphemy arises not from malice alone but from blindness to his all-pervading presence. One who has come to see Krishna in everything can no longer belittle him — for in belittling him, one would belittle existence itself.
