भूलिङ्गशकुनिर् नाम पार्श्वे हिमवतः परे ॥
भीष्म तस्याः सदा वाचः श्रूयन्ते ऽर्थविगर्हिताः ॥
मा साहसम् इतीदं सा सततं वाशते किल ॥
साहसं चात्मनातीव चरन्ती नावबुध्यते ॥
सा हि मांसार्गलं भीष्म मुखात् सिंहस्य खादतः ॥
दन्तान्तरविलग्नं यत् तद् आदत्ते ऽल्पचेतना ॥

译文

"There is a bird named bhulinga [that lives] on the far side of the Himavat slope, O Bhishma; its speech is always heard to contradict its own sense. 'Do not dare!' — so it constantly cries, they say, yet itself, daring beyond all measure, does not understand what it does. For this feeble-minded bird takes the scrap of meat lodged between the teeth from the very mouth of a lion devouring its prey."
