The vows are made — and the brothers go not away but toward the blind king: even in the hour of the gravest insult, they do not neglect a respectful leave-taking from the head of the family. Thus righteous anger does not annul the dharma of kinship: having sworn to requite the wrong, they at once show fidelity to duty. The brief verse seals all that has gone before: five vows, like five threads of a single destiny, converge into one — the justice to come. The verse teaches that true nobility keeps to ceremony and respect even in the midst of injury; that a vow once given does not release one from the duty of honor in the present; and that the Pandavas go into exile not broken, but confirmed — with clear knowledge of their path and of their truth, entrusted to time and to the gods.
